The Creator God Continues to Struggle

Most of us have heard the expression “ tilting at windmills.”  It comes from the literary classic story of a man who thought himself a knight who was fighting against a windmill.  It is often used to describe the futility of our human efforts fighting battles that are meaningless whether we win or lose.  The Creator God, who knows the final outcome of all things,  does not tilt at windmills.  He struggles only with issues that have eternal significance.  For this reason, I am fascinated that the word ‘israel’ which became the name of a man, then the name of an ethnic group, then the name of their nation, Israel, is a compound Hebrew word describing one with whom God struggles.

Holy Spirit gives great emphasis to this ongoing struggle between the Creator God and people important to Him.  An often over looked prophecy at the time the infant Jesus was being presented before God in Jerusalem is the one given to Mary, His mother, and recorded at Luke 2:34-35.
Notice, He is appointed for the fall and resurrection of many in Israel and for a sign that is going to be argued against so that the thoughts of many hearts might be revealed.  And, your soul also will be stabbed.

Now if we are the people whom God loves enough to struggle with us; then we see that Jesus is appointed to bring about change among us.  Some will fall and some will be raised up.  Moreover, the inner thinking of many will be revealed because of opposition to the real significance of who Jesus is.

Think about Him.

Merry Celebration of His Arrival,

  Stuart
