In the book we are told that even down to the very simple things of eating and drinking we should do all to the glory of God. We are told that the anointed one in each believer is the hope of glory. What is Holy Spirit saying in these things ? What practical application do they have ?
If we look back to Exodus 33:17 thru 34:7, we see that the extremely humble Moses struck a deal with God that God would reveal His glory to Moses. What does God say about His glory ? He describes His glory as: goodness; grace; compassion; slowness to anger; abounding in loving kindness and truth; and, forgiving but just.
Many of us have subscribed to a hyper-religious concept of God’s glory like a version of a celebrity or sports hero glory on steroids. We think of God’s glory as sort of the ultimate self-centered view of Himself in the Universe. While this describes the kind of glory Satan seeks it is the opposite of God’s view of Himself, and the view He desires us to have of Him.
Notice, in the story of Moses it was not Moses who was afraid to have God touch Moses or fully reveal Himself to Moses. It was God who in His kindness protected Moses from receiving more than Moses could bear. What was Moses’ response? He wanted all that God would give. His desire was that God would hear his plea on behalf of the people of Israel, “take us as your own possession.”
When we are filled with anointing we are the hope of goodness; grace; compassion; slowness to anger; loving kindness and truth; and, just forgiveness being found in the Earth. Why ? Because it is our choice whatever we do, including the simple things of life like eating and drinking, to do them as a fulfillment of God’s glory. Peter tells us that we are a special, peculiar people who show forth God’s glory in the World.
We are the living demonstration of goodness; grace; compassion; slowness to anger; loving kindness and truth; and, just forgiveness. When we act that way other people, like Moses, want to be close to us. Our love overcomes their fears.
We really are an amazing people. We are eternal now.
His, thus Yours,
I absolutely love this!
Can you write more about where or how God says his glory is things such as grace, kindness, goodness, etc?

Those words are all in His Exodus 33,34 encounter with Moses. From the whole of the Bible the same concepts are virtually everywhere you read. They are especially evident in the Psalms, in the life of the prophet Hosea, in His interactions with Israel, in the life and teachings of Jesus, and throughout Paul’s letters. I love you and value your enthusiastic response. sbm

I’ve just never heard God’s glory defined this way. Most use it to mean that God demands/deserves/gets praise and honor, deference and credit. This is such a breath of fresh air. The narcissistic version of God was getting really tiring for me. Okay, totally off-putting.
