But, First I Will . . .

My biological father sometimes told me, “No man is completely useless.” Having learned that this teaching moment usually came at moments of his frustration, I would pause and look over at him.  Then he would finish the thought, “He can always serve as a horrible example.”

This morning I have realized again I am not completely useless.  I have been serving as a horrible example.

When I awoke I knew Holy Spirit wanted me to write something for you.  But first I would have a cup of coffee.
When the coffee was finished and the morning pills washed down with the last bit, I was ready to turn on the computer and start to write.  But first I would fix myself some eggs for breakfast.
So, breakfast eaten I was ready to write.  But first I would answer a couple emails.
Emails answered, now I could sit and write.  But first I would just sweep the floor.
OK, now write !  But first I should let the dogs out.
Those of us who have a history of Attention Deficit Disorder are specially blessed.  We have a built in rationalization for why we get distracted.

Papa God is not a harsh, demanding task master.  But, when someone you love gives you the opportunity to do something together.  How many times can you find some reason to not get around to doing it before your loved one begins to think, “Well maybe, doing this with me is just not very important to the one who says he loves me.”
How long is the list of opportunities to do things together with Papa God that we have missed because,
“But, First I Will  . . .”

His, thus Yours,
Stuart
