Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Each of us is continually in the process of making decisions and acting upon the decisions we have made.  But, we need not to be deceived.  Our actions demonstrate the decisions we have really made.  Our actions demonstrate what and whom we have decided to believe.

Belief is a fascinating concept.  What you or I believe is not the result of accumulated evidence.  What we believe is based on what and whom we have chosen to believe.

I remember years ago while I was practicing law, I took a course to make myself a better trial lawyer.  It was focused around how to help the jury make a decision in favor of my client rather than against my client.  I was fascinated.  Nothing in the course was designed to help me gather more or better facts.  The entire course revolved around how to help the jury to like and believe in me, the lawyer.  Why ?  Because years of experience has demonstrated that if the juror likes and believes in the lawyer, the juror will almost always vote in favor of his client regardless of what the facts seem to say.  The juror will believe the facts according to the person he believes in; he will disregard the facts that do not favor the person he believes in.

Our decisions in all of life follow much the same pattern.  When we are in love, it seems like everything our loved one does is just perfect.  But, if the relationship breaks down, it seems like nothing that person does is ever quite right or good enough.

The same dynamic works in our relationship with God.  When we are in love with Him, everything he does seems good and like it is working toward our good.  When we begin to doubt His love for us, nothing that happens seems good enough.

God is Love.  He continually believes in us.  Even when we insult Him and turn away from Him still He loves us and believes in us.  His goodness never stops.  Even the things we think are painful are things He is working toward a good result for the whole Bride of Christ.

You sit in the eternal jury.  Who will you choose to believe in today ?

Make no mistake whom you are choosing to believe in is reflected in the little decisions of your day.  Do you drop your trash for someone else to pick-up ?  Do you speak kind words of encouragement ?  Do you smile at other people ?  It is small details in life that demonstrate what and whom we really believe.

His, thus Yours,
  Stuart

  1. Thank you Stuart for the wisdom and being faithful and obedient to deliver it.

While reading, God reminded me, that it’s the little things that we do, that makes the diffrence as I’m developing a friendship with a young man who does not know the Lord and he so needs the Lord.

We don’t always see the impact that or lives are making in the people around us.
