Think about your family, friends and acquaintances. What is the predominant theme of their various conversations ? Some of them are continually speaking about themselves, their feelings, their problems, their difficulties. Others are focused on hobbies or interests, their political favorites, their pets, their cars. Others focus on their families, their children or grandchildren. Still others focus on the latest gossip about friends, neighbors, celebrities, or office colleagues. An annoying handful will be talking about their religious group and their pet doctrines about God. A few will express genuine interest in you. And only a very few will actually be willing to talk about what Papa God is doing and what He has been saying.
What about you? If you were to play back a recording of all your conversations over the past week, what would your trend show ?
The Book tells us that our words are very important. Jesus said, it is out of the abundance of our heart that our mouths speak.
Being gracious in conversation does require us to be willing at times to chat about minor, unimportant, things. But do we ever get beyond the small talk and really begin to talk about the important spiritual issues of life ?
His, thus Yours,

Whether dialogue or monologue, peripheral topics are easier than those which require or may lead to intimacy.
Keep it lite. Divert when needed to avoid the core matters we share, e.g., purpose, ministry, mortality.
Yet, some intimate conversations should be reserved for the One with whom intimacy is safe.
It Is good to talk with the One who already knows our hearts and minds. The One with whom we do not have to first provide background and context, and who will not disparage or cast aside.
