Years ago, when I was still practicing law, my associate and I spent time strategizing about how to deal with a mistake. At the end of our discussion, as he was leaving my office, he turned to apologize again for the mistake. I replied, “It is alright, Walt, God is in control.”
As the door closed, Holy Spirit said, “I do not want to be in control.”
I replied, “You are God. You have to be in control.”
Holy Spirit said, “I know who I am. I do not want to be in control.”
I questioned, “If you do not want to be in control, what do you want ?”
“I want you to stop living a self directed life which crashes into the limits of my controls.
And, I want you to live a self-controlled life that stays within the limits of my direction.”
Ah, what a difference !
