A Bit of Personal Update

More than a year ago, when last I wrote anything personal, we were camping in a rental house and searching for a farm. Praise God we did not find a farm we wanted and could afford. In December we finally yielded to Holy Spirit and stopped looking for a farm. When we turned to looking for a house, the first house we entered was a perfect fit for us. We bought the house. We moved in on February 1, 2018, to begin making it our home and the King’s Embassy. The location is a delight to us all. The dogs have a fenced back yard that is big enough to really run across. Lauralea is less than 10 minutes from the race track and less than 10 minutes from the barn where she boards her horses. Betsey is about 7 minutes from her office / laboratory. And, I am delighted with every aspect of our home. We are located only about a mile from Interstate 95 or US Route 29, thus convenient for any visitors to find us quickly and easily. I will put the new address at the end of this.

It continually amazes me how long it takes to move into a new home. Funny thing was it was just yesterday that I finally made the decision to move some things out of my bedroom that I will never use. In addition to the usual complexities of moving, There have been some added wrinkles. Both of the resident ladies like to do projects like painting water colors or upholstering furniture. So instead of a formal Irving room we have created a crafts room. I, on the other hand, have returned to my enjoyment of making things of wood. So, the garage became a woodworking shop where friends can visit and work together with me.

In addition, to the creating work spaces, we have over come other issues. Last February I was surprised to return to consciousness riding in an ambulance. I had slipped on the ice covered driveway and landed on my head. I had a concussion and was unconscious for about 20 minutes. I was surprised even more when my daughter told me some of the things I did while I was completely unaware I was doing them. I learned a lot in the experience and gained a whole new understanding and compassion for people who suffer head injuries.

As the year has unfolded, I have gradually accepted Father’s indications that I am unlikely to resume making extended trips for ministry around the world. Two years ago I thought nothing of planning a 4 or 5 month trip around the world. Now I am beginning to understand that trips are unlikely to be more than 1 or 2 weeks. And, those will be far less frequent. The result of this, of course, is that electronic communications will become more important. And, concurrently, it will be important for people to be able to come here to the Embassy.

Well, that is enough about us. I hope this bring those of you who have been curious about us some satisfaction.

His, thus Yours,

Stuart

  1. Good to hear from you Stuart…is Laurel close to any boat yards? My wood working yearnings have shifted from timber frame structures (which I am happily retired from) to wooden boats which appear to be some of the most beautiful and even sexy creations of man…ok, we’ll leave it at beautiful!😜 Blessings!!!

    1. Tom, we are only 15 miles from Baltimore and less than an hour from Annapolis home of the US Naval Academy. The Exotic Lumber Yard at Annapolis has a section of woods devoted to people who are working on their boats. You are invited to come when the weather is a bit warmer, so you will be comfortable in the boat yards, and stay for a while to get out and explore as many boat builders as you want. You can probably locate the bigger ones with some internet research. sbm

  2. HI Stuart, so good to hear from you and hear your update. Sorry to hear about your fall, but I can see perhaps Father God is talking to you through this experience. I am glad you are recovered. If you ever take a trip to little old England, Matthew and I would love to see you. We now live in Swindon and there is plenty of room in our house here for you to stay and you would be most welcome. :0)
I have learnt time and again, His timing is perfect, and He has a much bigger plan in play than we so often manage to envision. But His ways are perfect and we just need to trust He knows what He is doing, even when we can’t see it.
I have much admiration for you and your ministry, I pray as we go into 2019 He will continue to guide you and speak powerfully into your life.
    much love
    Kathy Lane x
